Programme Note

Carving was commissioned by The New Zealand Choral Federation, to be sung by massed choirs at the Sing Aoteaora Festival, in Rotorua, 2009. It is about that most wonderful and spiritual of arts, Maori wood carving. The poem was written by Apirana Taylor.

This song is for competent musicians - high school and adult choirs. It is scored for S.A.T.B. and 2 woodblocks.
